Lex de Azevedo is a WestRim Instructor, teaching people all across the country how to use and master Strata 3D. He authors the 3D Layers blog, where he shares tutorials, tips and tricks on using Strata software and plugins. Lex was one of Strata's original crew, and developed the Strata user interface from the ground up. His knowledge of the inner workings of Strata 3D goes back over a decade. Lex is a veteran web and 3D designer, and is the Director of Web Design for one of the fastest growing web companies in the inter-mountain west. He has worked for numerous graphics software companies over the years, including Strata, MetaCreations and Curious Labs.

Polygon and Subdivision Modeling with Chris Tyler

In this class, Chris will be modeling a wrist watch. The seminar focuses on polygon modeling with subdivision surfaces in mind. The use of deformation lattices and shapes and instances will also be explored to fully exploit the modeling power within Strata 3D CX 5.5.

In this session, Chris will be rendering the watch that was modeled in the previous session. This covers setting up materials and then looking at techniques for lighting the scene with emphasis on specularity and blurry reflections.

Christian Moore is a WestRim Instructor, teaching people all across the country how to use and master Strata 3D. He is an expert in multimedia creation, a veteran user of Strata 3D CX and its predecessors and one of the most skilled animators using Strata. He has over 17 years of experience in design, graphic arts and has his BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where he also teaches courses in Electronic and Digital Multimedia. As Founding Partner and Senior Multimedia Developer for Leapsmart, Christian takes interactive projects from conceptual ideas to finished presentation for high-profile clients.

Dave Winslow is a WestRim Instructor, teaching people all across the country how to use and master Strata 3D. As a 19-year veteran in the design and illustration industry, he continues his 10-year love affair with Strata 3D because of his need for fast, outstanding end results. He runs his own design studio, where they use Strata products daily for 3D illustration and animation to deliver killer content for clients via print, interactive and broadcast media. He also publishes training materials in various media for different professional and educational industries. Dave was founder and publisher of STRATAuser magazine. Dave has taught numerous courses and seminars across the country, including a course in 3D illustration and animation at the Kansas City Art Institute.
