This is the first part of a 3-part modeling tutorial for the chair by mid-century modernist Jean Prouve. This tutorial walks through the modeling of the back leg of the chair. It uses primitives, custom grids and guides, flatten operations and hard edges to create an elegant model that subdivides very predictably.
This tutorial was recorded using version 7.0. It can be done in version 7.5 and 8.0, but the UV mapping portion is geared towards the less advanced UV tool set in 7.0.
