Organic objects are more complex than non-organic objects to model. Fortunately, there are ways around this. We will create simple plants to fill scenes using rectangles and textures.
The modeling part is simple: just a rectangle. This rectangle receives the texture and then it is replicated 3 times in increments of 45º to create a shape tat looks like a plant –from a safe distance ;).
A 2×1 in. rectangle receives the following texture:

This is applied to the rectangle we had.
We then replicate a 90º turn.
Then both rectangles are copy-rotated 45º.
If we want, we can scale the rectangles slightly to break the regularity a little.
Not the most beautiful of plants at first sight, but looks more elaborate than 4 rectangles.
With proper lighting and in their proper place, the plants look much better and really help a scene.
