Using a Displacement map to model part of a plug

Displacement map textures are not for every modeling job, but they are very well suited for some tasks. In this tutorial we will use one such texture to model the piece that reinforces the connection of the cable to the plug.

  1. Very interesting. I wonder what the final product would look like were Displace Inward not checked.

    The idiosyncrasies of tools inside Strata Design can be realized and further understood by simply playing with the many different options. Simply to see what happens.

    I’m glad I bought Strata Design 3D CXi.

  3. Hello, It is a texture. You create it from the resource palette, Texture tab, press and hold on the New… button at the left, and select Displacement from the pop-up menu.
