PROJECT: An old wooden radio

This project walks through the modeling and UV mapping of an old wooden radio.

MODELING COMPONENTS

Part 1: Modeling the rounded corners  Go to tutorial

This 7.5 modeling tutorials begins the modeling of an old wooden radio. This initial tutorial starts by creating the rounded corner geometry with emphasis on the creation of a polygon structure that is simple and lightweight. It demonstrates how to use direct polygon modeling with a demonstration of a technique which uses subdivision surfaces to generate final geometry but only along one axis.

Part 2: Modeling the front insets  Go to tutorial
This 7.5 modeling tutorials creates the front facing insets of an old wooden radio. It focuses on using N-gons to construct the insets and surrounding geometry in place of using subdivision surfaces.
Part 3: Modeling the side insets  Go to tutorial
This 7.5 modeling tutorials creates the side inset designs. They are based on the front insets and this tutorial further demonstrates the efficient use of ngons.

This 7.5 tutorial walks through the process of UV mapping of the old radio. It UV maps the side, the main body, and the rounded corner component. Each has a unique approach to the UV mapping process.
